We are very excited to announce that we are bringing the Slife v2.x client to the world of open source. Slife originated as a research platform and gained popularity as a time and productivity management application. Although we've focused on the development of Slife for commercial applications over the last couple of years, interest in Slife as a framework for research and other alternative applications never ceased to exist. In fact, it only grew as years went by. As we transitioned to a web-based platform and application with Slife v3.0, we decided to make the previous, desktop-only Slife client available to all as open source.
Our goal with an open Slife client is to provide a free and accessible resource not only for developers and researchers but also for current Slife users who might have specific needs. In terms of research, we believe it can be a useful platform with applicability in many fields, from activity analytics and context awareness to productivity analysis and machine learning.
We are hosting the client source code and downloadable binaries over at Google Code.
Based on the feedback we have received, we are open sourcing only the MacOS X client for the time being. If you would like to see the Windows client open sourced as well, please contact us.
